Forestry SIG sessions at IFORS-CORS 2017

Dear Forestry SIG members,

As you may know, the IFORS-CORS 2017 conference under the theme of “OR/Analytics for a better world” will be held from July 17 to July 21, 2017 in Quebec City, Canada (http://ifors2017.ca/). As well as being in a very nice location, the conference has great plenary speakers - Egon Balas, Martine Labbe, Alvin Roth and Andres Weintraub - and keynote speakers, http://ifors2017.ca/keynote-speakers, and expectations of lively and diverse sessions.

In search of a new FSIG President

As per stated in the FSIG bylaws, a new President must be elected in 2017. The president of the FSIG would like to thank Mustapha Ouhimmou (ÉTS) and Jean François Audy (UQTR) who kindly accepted to serve as the Election Committee that will handle this democratic election process. All FSIG members are invited to submit their nominations to the Election Committee through email (Mustapha.Ouhimmou@etsmtl.ca; Jean-Francois.Audy@uqtr.ca) by March 30th 2017.

Launch of the Value Chain Optimization (VCO) Network Book and Workshop on Nova Scotia Forest Strategic Planning Models

You are cordially invited to attend and participate in a special event, the launch of the VCO Network book “Forest Value Chain Optimization and Sustainability”. Editors and some authors will present the VCO Book chapters. The book has been dedicated to our dear friend and colleague, Eldon A. Gunn.

There will also be a special workshop where we will discuss the project “Strategic Planning Models for Nova Scotia”. This was a lifetime goal for Eldon. We are now mid-way to completing the project, and we seek your participation and advice to help make this a great success.
