Le Prix Omond Solandt est remis à une organisation, privée ou publique, ayant apporté une contribution exceptionnelle à la recherche opérationnelle au Canada. M. Solandt a été le fondateur et le premier président du Conseil de recherches pour la défense (CRD). Au cours de sa vie, il a été tour à tour directeur du Conseil des sciences du Canada, vice-président du Canadien National (CN) et chancelier de la University of Toronto.
