ELAVIO Summer School |

The ELAVIO Latin American Operations Research Summer School targets young scholars interested in the field of Operations Research (OR). The main purpose of the workshop is to present students (Doctoral, Master and exceptionally, advanced undergraduates) to short-courses, tutorials, discussion panels, and lectures on advanced topics in OR given by senior researchers and scholars. The workshop also gives the opportunity to a selected group of students to show their research results in special tracks. |
An important goal of the ELAVIO is to promote scientific exchange and networking opportunities between senior and young scholars. Topics of interest include Heuristics and Metaheuristics, Optimization, Mathematical Programming, Stochastic Process, Simulation and their Applications in transportation, environment, water, port, agriculture, engineering, information systems, tourism, ecology, etc. The official languages are: English, Spanish and Portuguese. More information about the 2010 school will be available in the near future. |
CORS, through its Graduate Student Conference Support (GSCS) will cover travel expenses of up to $1200 and the ELAVIO school organizers will cover local expenses of ONE candidate to attend the school. |
In addition to the GSCS eligibility criteria, which are: |
- Student is a member of CORS.
- Student's supervisor is a member of CORS.
- Student is enrolled in a graduate program in a field related to operational research.
- Student is studying at a Canadian university, or student is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident studying abroad.

the following selection criteria will be used: |
- The applicant’s academic achievements, judged mainly by the submitted CV.
- The applicant’s planned activities at the school. Although, presenting an article is not required, a candidate who proposes to present their research work will be given higher priority.
